if you can look past questionable (ok let's be honest, crazy and over the top and probably insulting) depictions of Chinese culture, this is most certainly a fun silly capsule of late 80s John Carpenter nonsense and a good drunk movie to watch with the buds.

Both the sci-fi elements and the scientist characters are really fun and involving in this carl sagan book adaptation - but on the other hand the love interest is really annoying and the movie should’ve been 30 minutes shorter.
