As 1980s blockbusters go it’s outclassed by the true greats, but despite weirdly shifting tone (is it fun and feel good, is it creepy thriller, idk), the characters and story succeed and make this a pop-corny good time.
It’s no DS9 but with great characters, wonderful actors and mediocre writing this long story has a strong spot in the star trek universe for the dedicated fan.
I slept on this 70s classic for years because I didn’t know anything about it (and thought it was about motorcycles, which, not really) so I’m late to the party but can certainly add to the chorus - it’s stone-cold genius and just so beautiful and inspiring.
This is an indie documentary about Ramallah’s mayor filmed in 2017, and it’s interesting for its juxtaposition of the outrageous and challenging realities of life in the occupied west bank with the day to day trivia of running a municipality.
I’m torn because the story and research here is top notch and quite compelling but the documentary craft itself is about as generic and bland as any other netflix true crime treatment, which is boring.
